MRSA, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, is a microbe that can cause serious infection and it is attacking more people, especially those who are ill, the elderly, and people with low immunity. It has a new term now called community aquired MRSA, CA-MRSA. This is because
MRSA infections happen in hospitals, health care facilities, public gyms and restrooms, and places like nail salons.
When you visit a hospital, or are a patient there, have visitors use a hand sanitizer. Better yet handwashing, according to the CDC, can prevent MRSA. Gyms can be breeding places for MRSA so shower while there after using the machines and wear flip-flops. Take your own tools to a manicure. When exiting a public restroom, use your paper towel to open the door if there is no hands free door opener. And lastly, take care of cuts and scrapes on your skin by keeping them clean and covered with a bandaid.
